William W. Ward Ph.D.
Bii Founder and President |
As
a full time research scientist, Dr. Ward has spent 42 years studying
the biochemistry of luminescence in jellyfish and ctenophores,
from the Florida gulf coast to the Puget Sound in northern Washington
State. He is an acclaimed world expert in bioluminescence with
special emphasis on green-fluorescent protein (GFP). Dr. Ward
is a noted teacher and seminar leader with more than 22 years
of experience with adult professional audiences. He has co-authored
(with Catherine Thomson, Ph.D.) “A Guide to Green-Fluorescent
Protein: Applications in Cell Biology and Drug Discovery” for
D&MD Publications. This resourse-oriented practical guide
presents an overview of the most important features and technological
applications of Green-Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and its variant
forms, and illustrates how GFP is currently being used in the
biopharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Ward's vision for Brighter Ideas, Inc. is to
design and create commercial products which utilize GFP and fluorescent
protein technology. Currently, some of these products include
unique high throughput screening Protease/Protease Inhibitor assays,
protein purification kits, and antibodies.
